Allied Van Lines Protection Plan
Extra Care Protection
(ECP)
When you want the full replacement protection offered
by the ECP Plan, you should protect your belongings up to their total replacement
value. At a minimum, the value you declare must be equal to at least $5.00
per pound times the weight of your shipment.
Declared Value Protection
(DVP)
DVP provides reimbursement and replacement at a depreciated
value, up to the dollar amount that you declare as the value of your possessions.
You may declare a lump sum value for your possessions, or you may declare
a per pound valuation amount for the weight of your shipment. In either
case, the value you declare must be no less than $1.25 per pound. The cost
of DVP is calculated at a rate of 70 cents per $100 of declared valuation.
Basic Liability
There is no charge for Basic Liability Protection. However,
it only provides for reimbursement at a fixed rate of 600 per pound per
article.
Is The Minimum Protection Level Enough?
While Extra Care Protection and Declared Value Protection
have minimum protection levels based on your shipment weight, the level
of protection you actually need for your household items may be greater
than what these minimum levels provide. You may need to consult your homeowner's
or renter's insurance policy for recommended coverage levels or use the
worksheets on the back side. When determining the protection level for
your household inventory, be sure to consider any special value items such
as antiques, crystal and collectibles.
